Maritime

Maritime transport is essential to the world’s economy as over 90% of the world’s trade is carried by sea and it is, by far, the most cost-effective way to move mass goods and raw materials around the world.

Maritime activity has a key role to play in the alleviation of extreme poverty and hunger as it already provides an important source of income and employment for many developing countries, such as the supply of seagoing personnel and ship recycling, owning & operating, building, repair and port services, among others.

The role of Maritime transport for the future will not only be that of shipping goods around the world but one that creates many beneficial elements for mankind such as:

  • Disaster and Humanitarian Relief
  • Economic Prosperity & Development
  • Employment & Inclusive Growth
  • Energy & Climate
  • Good Governance & Anti-corruption
  • Human Rights, Equality & Women’s Empowerment
  • Peace & Stability

At NAEG, our rationale is that in order for the above beneficial elements to be realized, the industry needs to be transformed to higher standards that incorporate renewable energy technologies into actual ship-building. Although we are proponent believers in maritime being an essential sub-sector of the overall transportation sector, the principals of the company believe that the need for a completely “Green Ship” is long overdue and in line with future needs – the “Next Level” as we refer to it. The investment team of NAEG has continued to fund research and pilot innovation projects that are focused on the creation of large maritime vessels that are carbon free and can operate on a commercial and recreational level with the application of the following renewable energy applications:

  • Solar Panels
  • Vertical-Axis Wind Turbines (multi-directional harnessing technologies)
  • Combination of Hydrogen Technologies (use of sea-water concurrently)

NAEG Investco has funded a pilot project where the current testing and application of various technologies for a large commercial vessel are being conducted.

Our group strongly believes that achievement of self-sustainable maritime vessels for naval, commercial (shipping) and recreational (cruise ships) use will benefit governments across the globe and contribute to the sustainability of developing economies and their GDP growth.
